2023-2024 Subaru Outback Non-Wilderness trim brackets installation guide

Tools required
- M10 wrench or socket (for connecting O-ring to the ground);
- 2mm hex screwdriver;
- Pliers (maybe);
- Scissors or any kind of cutter (to cut zip ties);

Step 1:
Getting ready
- Open the box and verify all parts are intact and nothing is missing*;
- Make sure all required tools are ready;
- Get your wiring harness(s) prepped as described in the fuse tap adapter configuration guide**;
(*) - Attached image displays Type 1 brackets;
(**) - "Brooklyn Forest" edition brackets require two wiring harnesses;

Step 2:
Pre route wiring harnesses
- Route your wiring harness along the driver side pillar from the center of the grille toward main fuse box*;
(no need to secure wires with zip ties or other means yet);
(*) - example picture shows one side only;
- Thread the harness thru the grille from inside as shown on the pictures below;

- Push all connectors down between the scoop and the grille*;
(*) - the location behind emblem is the most convenient as it has more room;

- Make sure all connectors are threaded thru the same opening in the grille on both sides;

Step 3:
Install brackets
- attach each LED connector to the wiring harness*;
(*) - the sequence is not important as each LED is connected in parallel;

step 3.1:
- Push bracket inside and behind the grille structure;

Step 3.2:
- Pull the wires out at the same time. Make sure connectors end up above the scoop;

Step 4:
Align the base plate in the cell
- Hold the plate with your fingers;
- Make sure both knurled insert nuts are visible;

Step 5:
Put the outside frame into the cell
- Position outer frame with the screws inserted against the cell;
- Connect both pieces to each other with the screws*;
(*) - Do not apply excessive force to tighten the screws. Finger tight is enough;

Secure both screws
- When tightening the screws, make sure you do the outside screw first; The outer bracket will bend slightly inside the cell;
- Tighten inner screw. The bracket will bend a little more and take the shape of the cell;
- Repeat the same on the other side of the grille;
- Once both brackets are attached to the grille, route and secure both wiring harnesses along the driver side pillar. Use provided zip ties;

Step 6:
Configure and install the fuse tap adapter
- Refer to the fuse tap setup guide;
- When attaching the fuse tap adapter and O-ring terminal, make sure BOTH harnesses are connected;

Done!
- Turn ON the ignition and make sure the LED are up*;
(*) - do not start the car at this point;
- Once assured that the install is successful, close the hood and enjoy the new look of your vehicle;
